Senior DevOps Engineer

At Business-Class, we build technology that powers premium travel services. We operate a complex multi-service environment hosted fully on AWS. We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer who will take ownership of infrastructure reliability, observability, and automation across multiple production systems written in PHP, Go, Node.js, and Python.

The Role

• You will be responsible for designing, maintaining, and improving AWS-based infrastructure.
• You will ensure system scalability, reliability, and security while standardizing deployment, monitoring, and alerting processes across all teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain infrastructure in AWS (ECS, ECR, Lambda, RDS/Aurora, S3, CloudFront, Route53, VPC, CloudWatch, etc.).
• Manage CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
• Maintain and optimize containerized environments using Docker and ECS.
• Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging systems (CloudWatch, DataDog, OpenTelemetry, ELK, or Prometheus/Grafana).
• Ensure system reliability through infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK).
• Set up and maintain secure network configurations (VPCs, security groups, routing, VPNs).
• Manage secrets, credentials, and sensitive configurations (AWS Secrets Manager, SSM Parameter Store).
• Participate in capacity planning, cost optimization, and performance tuning.
• Collaborate with developers to improve service resilience and deployment automation.
• Ensure compliance with best practices for availability, scalability, and disaster recovery.

Must-Have Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS core services (ECS, ECR, EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, Route53, IAM, VPC).
• Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code (Terraform preferred).
• Strong Linux administration and networking knowledge (DNS, routing, VPNs, security groups).
• Experience managing containerized environments and microservices (Docker, ECS, or Kubernetes). • Solid knowledge of monitoring and alerting systems, including metrics, logs, and tracing (CloudWatch, Prometheus, DataDog, or similar).
• Familiarity with logging pipelines (Fluent Bit, FireLens, or ELK).
• Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines, or Jenkins).
• Strong understanding of system security, IAM, and least-privilege principles.
• Scripting skills in Bash and at least one programming language (Python preferred).
• Knowledge of network troubleshooting tools (tcpdump, traceroute, netstat).

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with OpenTelemetry or centralized observability systems.
• Experience with AWS cost optimization and FinOps practices.
• Experience with compliance frameworks (SOC 2, PCI DSS).
• Familiarity with one or more backend stacks: PHP, Go, Node.js, or Python.
