Head of Dispatch Operations (Flatbed, Stepdeck, Reefer, Dry Van)
Join a growing dispatch company operating exclusively in the USA freight market. We are hiring a Head of Dispatch Operations to build, lead, and elevate a team of dispatchers across flatbed, stepdeck, reefer, and dry van services - working on a schedule aligned with U.S. time zones.

What will you lead
  • Team leadership across flatbed, stepdeck, reefer, and dry van: clear goals, role clarity, coaching, and consistent performance.
  • Operating model design: simple, reliable processes; service levels; quality controls; and target KPI that drive consistency and scale.
  • Daily execution: trip planning, smart load allocation, oversight of pickups and deliveries, and decisive incident resolution.
  • Partnerships with drivers and owner-operators, brokers, customers, sales, and finance to align decisions to shared outcomes.
  • Customer excellence: proactive communication, accurate commitments, and fast, calm problem resolution.
  • Unit economics: pricing discipline, route efficiency, backhauls and additional loads, fewer empty miles, and stronger average RPM.
  • Technology and data: selection and adoption of TMS, reporting and dashboards in Power BI, and automation that removes friction.
  • Compliance and documentation: hours of service, electronic logging devices, Department of Transportation requirements, insurance, and complete, accurate records.
  • Executive visibility: transparent reporting on performance, risks, and improvements against agreed KPI.
What success looks like
  • On-time, in-full pickups and deliveries as the standard.
  • Average RPM increases while empty miles decrease in a sustained way.
  • Detention and layover as a share of revenue decrease; cancellations and service failures decline.
  • Driver and owner-operator utilization and retention improve quarter over quarter.
  • Customers consistently rate responsiveness and resolution speed as excellent.
  • Billing is fast and accurate; days sales outstanding improve; adjustments trend down.
  • A safety- and compliance-first culture with declining incident rates.
Your day-to-day
  • Flatbed and stepdeck: plan and assign drivers, verify equipment and securement (straps, chains, tarps), and enforce safe loading and unloading.
  • Reefer: set and monitor temperatures, mitigate spoilage and delay risks, meet appointment windows precisely.
  • Dry van: coordinate standard freight with disciplined routing, minimal dwell time, and clean documentation.
  • Communicate proactively with drivers, brokers, and customers: confirm appointments, provide clear estimated arrival and delivery times, and manage delays and detention.
  • Operate in TMS: create and track orders, manage billing and documents, and maintain complete, accurate data.
  • Analyze and improve: review trends, identify bottlenecks, standardize fixes, and scale what works.
What you bring
  • Four to six or more years in dispatch or logistics with practical experience across flatbed, stepdeck, reefer, and dry van.
  • Leadership experience is a strong plus. We will also consider high‑potential candidates without formal management experience who are motivated to grow and confident in their potential.
  • Deep knowledge of the USA freight market: geography, seasonality, pricing, hours of service, electronic logging devices, Department of Transportation requirements, and documentation.
  • Proficiency with TMS; strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets; experience creating reports and dashboards in Power BI; and confident use of KPI.
  • Clear communication, calm under pressure, sound judgment, and sharp prioritization in a high‑volume, time‑sensitive environment.
  • Ability to work on a schedule aligned with USA time zones.
